    Why November 11th?
Zevenaar Karnaval along with many Carnavals in the Netherlands and throughout Europe begin on this day.
November 11th was originally called "Armistice Day" because...at 11:00 AM, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month
in 1918, the First World War came to an end.
It was called "The War to End All Wars" but we know that is not the case.  Still as we begin the season of the Merry Monarch we can wish that everyone could join us in the joy and sharing for the spell of Carnaval time.
